The grapes for the Traminer Bisamberg (which is a “Roter Traminer”, or Red Traminer;  there are other Traminers, such as Yellow Traminer and Gewürztraminer) were grown in an old vineyard on the Wiener Bisamberg. The Bisamberg (translated as “up to the hill”) is the 21st district’s primary vineyard and was the main vineyard area for Wieninger Heuriger. The soils of the vineyard consist of light, sandy loess over massive limestone.

Hand harvested in October, the grapes went through 5 hours of maceration and were fermented in stainless steel tanks. They were then matured on the fine lees. With a residual sweetness of around 20 g/l sugar, this wine cannot compete with a Beerenauslese - but as a sweet wine in a kind of Auslese style together with the intense Traminer aromatics, it will surely be brilliant!

Tasting Notes

First come scents of hibiscus and dried fruits. These are followed by aromas of fine blossoms along with some caramel and spices. On the palate, there is honey and nut with smoky notes and light bitter tones.
