  4. St. Laurent

St. Laurent was derived from a centuries old crossing of Pinot Noir and a now extinct native ancestor.  Once almost gone, it is experiencing a renaissance among Austria's best red wine producers. Matured in used barriques. A fruity, expressive wine in an elegant Burgundy style. Needs plenty of air while young. Very good ageing potential.

Tasting Notes

Spicy, with cherry and earth aromas in the nose, this wine has a deep red color, soft fruit on the palate with fine knit tannins, a little spiciness and fresh acidity.  The limited barrel aging provides just enough elevage for the dense fruit to open up and reveal it's delicate and elegant aromas and flavors.

Food Pairing

Pair with roast duckling a l'orange, raspberry shortbread, or filet mignon in béarnaise sauce.
