This Weissburgunder Leithaberg is made from vines that are up to 30 years old and grow in three outstanding sites on the eastern slopes of the Leithagebirge: the Kollern, Unterer Edelgraben, and the Alter Berg. All these vineyards express the region‘s typical fossil-rich limestone soil. The “DAC” in the name of this wine underscores its origin, the protected region of Leithaberg, and stands for power and vitality that have been given to this Weissburgunder by the minerally soils. The grapes are hand harvested in September. After selection in the vineyard, de-stemming and a short maceration period, careful pressing took place. Spontaneous fermentation followed. The wine was then matured for 16 months in large oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of understated tarry-mineral with acacia and hints of fresh white bread. There is orange zest and quince on the palate. It is a bright, straightforward  impression overall, with a lengthy finish that reflects the limestone and calcareous sandstone terroir.

Food Pairing

Perfectly paired with cold meats such as roasted chicken or london broil, crudite and cheese plates and general picnic fare.
