This wine is the best outcome of Quinta do Monte d'Oiro's terroir. It's the estate's top of the line and consistently a world-class wine, considered by international wine writers as the best Syrah in the Iberian Peninsula. A classic pairing of Syrah with Viognier. The grapes are co-fermented in stainless steel vats, followed by a long maceration. This yields a deep and vibrant wine. Further refinement for 18 months in a combination of 30% new and 70% second year French oak barrels adds structure and character. Finally, the wine spends 15 months in bottle before release onto the market.

Tasting Notes

Characteristic notes of raspberry appear on the nose. The addition of Viognier adds beautiful floral and perfumed notes. In the mouth the wine is complex with velvety tannins. The time spent in new oak barrels is noticable throughout the presence of vanilla and toasty notes.

Food Pairing

This is a wine to pair with roast pork, ham or other smoked meats, as well as rich stews.
