This flagship red of Castillo de Monjardin is named after a king who played a very important role in building the kingdom of Navarra in the 12th century. Made from 100% low-yield Merlot grown in iron-rich soil and fermented in stainless steel, the wine is then aged in new French casks for one year before release. Deyo is the perfect expression of the Navarra terroir in which it is grown.

Tasting Notes

Rich ruby-red in color, Deyo shows intense aromas of blackberries, violets, licorice and chocolate. On the palate it is richly textured with fine-grained tannins and generous depth of flavors.

Food Pairing

Pair this wine with lamb and apricot tajines, roast veal in red wine sauce, or filet mignon with sautéed mushrooms.
